Approvals wait for no one.
Every expense routes to the right chain by policy. If an approver is away it moves to their delegate; if nobody answers it escalates — no one has to call anyone.

Rules build the chain, you do not.
Amount, category, cost centre and who spent — the chain follows from those four. A rule is written once and applies itself to every expense. Nobody picks approvers by hand.
There is no such thing as a stuck approval.
Whoever is away gets skipped
If an approver shows as away on the leave calendar, the chain moves to their delegate. The expense does not sit in anyone's waiting room.
Silence gets a reminder
When no answer comes, a reminder goes out. The system sends it, not your finance team.
Time-outs escalate
When the window you set runs out, the approval moves up a level. Month end does not knot up on one person.
Everything approved leaves a trace.
Approvals, rejections and corrections are never written over the record; each is appended as a new line. Who approved what, when, and under which rule — all of it stays immutable.

An approval is a signature, not a click.
Nobody approves their own spend
The chain never assigns the person who spent as their own approver. Where authority collides, the step moves up one level.
Authority sits with the role, not the person
When someone leaves, the chain does not break. The role is handed over and pending approvals move with it.
Undoing is also a record
If an approval is withdrawn, the old line is not deleted; the withdrawal is appended to the audit trail as its own line.
